The operators of Radio Biafra have rubbished Nigeria’s government for claiming that it has jammed the transmission signals of the station, which has been operating illegally from an unknown location.
Dr Yemi Folasade-Esan, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Information, who claimed that the broadcast frequency of the Radio Biafra had been jammed incurred the wrath of the radio operators who described the claim as blatant lie.
Folashade-Esan made the claim earlier today while speaking with State House correspondents after she had briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the activities of the ministry.
“We also gave a report on (Radio Biafra) that because right now the signals from Radio Biafra have been jammed. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has successfully jammed that. The NBC is also working with security operatives to get those that are behind that radio because it is an illegal radio.
“It is not licensed by anybody to be on Nigeria’s airwaves,” she said.
Checks revealed that the radio was still airing its programme in the South East.
