It was a terrible day for the cameraman of the Television Continental at the weekend as thugs allegedly loyal to a member House of Assembly, Mrs Olufunmilayo Tejuosho severely assaulted him for mistakenly hitting Tejuosho with Camera while trying to position himself to capture former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who had visited the lawmakers to consult with them on his presidential ambition.
TVC is a media outfit owned by the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Complete News gathered that it took the intervention of the other journalists before the fierce looking thugs could release the cameraman.
While they pounced on the cameraman, Tejuosho allegedly insisted ‘ he should be disciplined’ because he ‘deliberately hit me with the camera’, Tejuosho was reported to have said.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker has denied the allegation that she ordered thugs to beat up the cameraman.
She said the alleged thug only slapped the cameraman once dismissing reports that he was brutally assaulted. The former deputy speaker of the Lagos State House Assembly claimed the impact of the hit made her unconscious for few minutes before she could stabilized.
The lawmaker in an exclusive telephone chat with Complete News said, ” I was unconscious for a while when he hit me with the camera. He was busy looking at his camera to see if it was damaged. That was when one of the thugs who had come to see if they could get something from Atiku slapped him.He was not severely assaulted as reported in the media. I was the one that even pleaded that they should leave when i learnt is a media worker’.
Tejuosho who spoke through he colleague, Hon. Ladi Balogun expressed surprised about the negative report stressing it was meant another antic of her detractors who are envious of her rising political profile especially as the 2015 general election approaches.
