Embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party,(PDP) Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has downplayed the wave of defections that hit the party saying defection remain a normal thing a democratic system.
Tukur made the assertion today in Abuja while reacting to yesterday’s defection of 27 PDP members of Sokoto State House of Assembly to the All Progressives Congress(APC).
He said, “If 27 have left, many would come in, that is the beauty of democracy. This is democracy in action where freedom of choice is entrenched,’
The embattled chairman insisted that the PDP stands for democracy not dictatorship.
There have been mass defections from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC recently. A development that has given the ruling party a sleepless nights.
