According to reports, the Senate took the decision following the non-readiness of the report of Committee on Ethics and Privileges that is looking into the petition submitted against Rivers State governor, Chibuike Amaechi.

The Chairman Senate Ad hoc Committee on Publicity, Senator Dino Melaye, who addressed Journalists on the postponement said the Senate wants a holistic approach to the screening process, hence the postponement to Tuesday and Wednesday. He however cleared that the report of Ethics and Privileges Committee on Amaechi would be read on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday next week, after which, the former Rivers Governor would be screened.
