A Lagos-Based lawyer and Human Rights Activist, Tunde Kolawole has flayed the continued confinement of Sahara Reporters publisher and Activist, Omoyele Sowore to Abuja.
The fiery lawyer in a Facebook post described the order as unconstitutional. Kolawole also argued that it was wrong for the Nigerian state to restrict citizens from protesting peacefully and condemned the attack on Sowore at the Unity Fountain in Abuja today.
He said, “In the first instance, it is unconstitutional to confine Comrade Omoyele Sowore to Abuja as part of his bail conditions. It is also unconstitutional to have denied him the right of peacefully protesting at the Unity Fountain or anywhere in Abuja for that matter.
“If this is the way President Buhari and the APC, want to solve the “Sowore Problem”, then they should get ready to establish more cemeteries in Abuja and other parts of the country as many of us are not prepared and will never surrender our God given and constitutional rights to peaceful assembly and demonstrations to an incompetent; bloody thirsty and tyrannical regime.
‘’Whereas Boko Haram; bandits and kidnappers that are on rampage through out Nigeria are being fed with carrots, sledge hammers are being used to spill the blood of innocent youths, who are ordinarily exercising their constitutional rights. This is unacceptable and very shameful’’.
