Facts emerged at the weekend on how the incumbent governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode lost the last opportunity to redeem his image and perhaps be reconsidered for a second term.
COMPLETE NEWS gathered that members of the influential Governor’s Advisory Council from Lagos East Senatorial District led by Chief Lanre Rasaq, an elder from Epe had reached out to other GAC members in other districts to storm Tinubu’s residence together to profusely beg for Ambode.
However, the World Press Conference addressed by the enraged governor threw spanners into their work and the elders rescinded on the last push to save Ambode.
The embattled governor who was visibly enraged during the World Press Congerence televisied live on national televisions had said that the preferred aspirant, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu is mentally unstable to govern Lagos adding that he(Sanwo-Olu) was arrested in America for spending counterfeit currency in a night club.
“ That unfortunate World Press Conference organized for the governor by a hustler celebrity Magazine publisher was the last stroke that broke the camel’s back. I can tell you for free that the elders in Lagos East, the likes Senator Adefuye, Chief Lanre Rasaq, Baba Bamu in Epe among others were working frantically to rally members of GAC from other districts to save the governor.
“The Magodo-GRA residence of KLM(Chief Rasaq) was where the meetings were held. But like a man under a spiritual influence, he bungled everything by calling his fellow partyman and anointed aspirant unprintable names.
“The governor confirmed through the press conference what many had regarded on the social media as campaign of calumny against his person. I can tell you for free, if Ambode had spoken with finesse and grace during that press conference, the chances were high that the situation could be redeemed”
