
The Adamawa Command of the Police has arrested 15 young people identified to be part of the cult known around the state as Shila Boys.
Nine handsets were recoved from the suspects in a fashion that strenghtens their link to Shila Boys.
They were routinely picked up in groups of three, five or more by the police, found always with stolen phones, cash and such other light items, and with the knives and daggers that they readily use to force items from the owners.
On the latest arrest, the Police Command said in a statement by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Nguroje, that nine mobile phones, a POS machine, some dangerous weapons and some hard drugs were recovered from the suspects.
The statement named the suspects as Abdullahi Shuaibu,18; Auwal Saleh, 18; Usman Abdullahi, 21; Auwal Isah, 20; Usman Ahmadu, 32; Muhammad Abubakar,18; and Jamilu Hassan,19.
The others are Abdulsalam Abdullahi, 20; Salisu Umar,19; Yahya Umaru, 25; Salahudeen Auwal,18; Yusuf Ahmed, 20; Jamilu Sani, 18; Abraham Joel, 18; and Muhammad Auwal, 19.
The Police said the 15 suspects were arrested during the Sallah celebrations of Wednesday and Thursday mostly within the metropolitan Yola South and Yola North LGAs and the environs.
According to the police statement: “The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, appreciates the good people of Adamawa State for their collaboration in the fight against armed robbery, house breaking and violent crimes by radical ‘Shila’ cult group.”
