The Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by the Oyo State Government to investigate the abduction of students and teachers at Esinele and Yawota communities, Oriire Local Government Area, is expected to submit its report today.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday.
Oyelade said the commission’s report would be formally received by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, at the Executive Council Chamber, Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

“The event is scheduled to commence at 12 noon, with top government officials, security chiefs, religious leaders, labour representatives and other stakeholders expected to attend,” Oyelade said.
Oyelade added that representatives of the affected communities and schools were also expected at the event.
“The Principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, Mrs Racheal Alamu; Headmaster of Baptist Basic School, Yawota, Mr Adejumo Gabriel; and Headteacher of Local Authority Basic School, Ahoro-Esinele, Mr Oke Jacob Sunday, and representatives of the affected communities are among the attendees,” Oyelade said.
Prince Oyelade recalled that Governor Makinde inaugurated the Judicial Commission of Inquiry on July 31, 2026, with a mandate to investigate and uncover the circumstances surrounding the abduction of the students and teachers at Esinele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area.
The Judicial Commission was constituted following the May 15, 2026 bandits’ attack on three schools –Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School, all in the local government. The incident led to the abduction of 39 pupils and seven teachers, including Mrs Alamu.
The victims were held in custody by their abductors for 56 days within the Old Oyo National Park before gaining freedom on July 10, 2026. Sadly, two teachers of the schools — Michael Oyedokun and Adesiyan Adegboye were lost in the incident.
