Senator Ali Ndume who is aspiring to become the senate president of the ninth National Assembly has vowed not to step down for the preferred candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Lawan.
Ndume who met with vice-president Prof Yemi Osinbajo on Monday told reporters that he won’t succumb to pressure. He said, “Me, step down? I am still consulting.”
The senator also dispelled the rumours that he was hobnobbing with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to scuttle the chances of the ruling party.
He stated, “Me that is regarded as an enemy by the opposition?”
Ndume was a former member of the PDP, but he later defected to the APC ahead of the 2015 polls.
