The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase and the Chairman Police Service Commission, Chief Mike Okiro have harped on the importance of community policing to solve the current security challenges facing the nation.
Arase, in his welcome address while declaring the National Security Summit opened this morning in Abuja cited African nations which have gained huge mileage by partnering with the citizen on security.
The Police named nations like; Kenya, South Africa among others as successful citizen policing model that could serve as example to Nigeria.
He added police commands at state level will replicate the Summit in their respective states.
President Muhammadu Buhari is the chairman of the Summit. Over 500 stakeholders are attending.
