The newly sworn in governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose has declared that he will appoint a special adviser on stomach infrastructure to cater for the hungry in the state.
The governor said regardless of what the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC says, his government will not shy away from the stomach infrastructure stressing that a man who has not eating will not care about road infrastructure, albeit crucial.
He said, “I must thank you for keeping faith with me. i will banish hunger in your midst, whether they call it stomach infrastructure that is their problem. I will appoint special adviser on stomach infrastructure. Road infrastructure is good but a man who has not eaten must first take care of his stomach”.
Fayose stated this while delivering his speech at the inauguration held at Oluwole Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti today.
It would be recalled that the phrase ‘Stomach Infrastructure’ crept into the nation’s political lexicon following the defeat of the APC’s Governor Kayode Fayemi in the the June 21, governorship election in Ekiti. The APC alleged that the people opted for stomach rather than physical infrastructure by electing Ayo Fayose, who allegedly distributed rice to people in the state.
The governor described his second back as a divine arrangement noting that it was unprecedented in the history of the nation.
“My history is divine. i am the first Ekiti man to be elected twice. The first Nigerian politician to defeat two incumbents”, the declared to the admiration of the crowd.
He recalled how he was forcefully removed on October 16, 2006 and returned today October 2014. ‘This is not ordinary’, he said.
He reiterated that he would always stay with the people at time. He said, “This is the governor that ate roasted plantain with you. I am the governor of your own imagination not theirs(APC)”.
He called on the media to be non-partisan and publish the truth rather than playing the script of self seeking politicians.
He reiterated that the APC led government was voted out because the government disconnected itself from the people.
“The Fayemi government has accumulated N84billion and has failed to pay workers’ wages. N502m in deficit every month. I left over N10billion in the coffers but they have squandered”. the governor said.
On the PDP, the governor said the party was committed to indivisible Nigeria adding that the PDP remained the only passionate about the people.
The PDP National chairman Adamu Muazu, while speaking thanked God for the party’s victory in Ekiti state.
“The people of Ekiti, you have spoken we thank you all. The job you have asked your son do for you is a tough job. He must be given all the necessary supporters”, Mu’azu urged the people .
He urged the governor to work for the people who have shown in love by electing him into office. On the new defectors, he assured them of fairness and equality. According to him, the party will take care of the interest.
