The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ambassadors, a support and fan group of the National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday celebrated the political icon who clocked 64 today.
The group donated books, bags, public address system and other materials to pupils of St John Primary School, Aruloya, Lagos Island, the primary school Tinubu attended. The Anglican Mission School was founded in 1894.
The National Director of BTA, Comrade Saheed Afonja said the group decided to extend the celebration to the school because of the special love Tinubu has for education. ‘Our mentor, leader and father is a lover of education. So we decided to mobilize other progressives and most especially loyal protégées of Asiwaju to support his(Tinubu’s) primary school with some materials’, Afonja said his remarks.
According to him, members of the group are ready to fight the worthy causes of the former Governor and ensure that his political ideologies and legacies are preserved.
Afonja described Tinubu as a dogged fighter, protector of democracy and lover of masses. He added, “ I see Asiwaju as a Prophet of our time. He is a man who has a clear vision”.
In his own tribute, Comrade Toyin Aremu, the Publicity Secretary of the group said Tinubu had helped to open up the democratic space of Nigeria with his progressive ideas and common sense revolution he introduced into the Nigerian politics.
Speaking further on the intervention for the group in St John Primary School, Aremu said, “ It is going to be a continuous process, next year we are coming here in a bigger way. The school authorities have itemized the challenges they are facing which we are going to mobilize support from other stakeholders to fix.
“You know we are progressives. We have people who believe in the cause of Asiwaju(Tinubu). Today we are donating thousands of exercise books, public address system and we are also presenting awards to outstanding pupils”.
Kolade Alabi, the Executive Secretary of Bariga LCDA and Chairman of the Conference 57 of Lagos Executive Secretaries who spoke on behalf of his colleagues described Tinubu as a man of an inestimable political sagacity. He said, “Asiwaju is a worthy leader,a visionary, ‘ a man who has contributed massively to the development of Lagos, Nigeria and to humanity at large”.
Alabi urged the Pupils to remain committed to their studies saying they can attain and even surpass the height Tinubu has reached in life.
The Lagos Island Local Government Chairman, Hon Adetoyese Olusi while thanking The Bola Tinubu Ambassadors said the group had down well by tracing Tinubu to where he started his education pursuit. Olusi declared to the admiration of teachers, pupils and Guests that his administration will rehabilitate the school and equip it with modern teaching aide as a model primary school within the area.
The Headmaster of the School, Mr Adeleye Adeoya commended the support of the Bola Tinubu Ambassadors and called on other eminent Nigerians, corporate bodies to attend to other urgent needs of the school which include rebuilding of the school fence, renovation of school offices among others.
