Lagos based human Rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) has alleged that the Federal Government is shielding the embattled aviation minister, Ms Stella Oduah from being investigated.
The fiery lawyer described the three-man panel set up yesterday by President Goodluck Jonathan to probe the minister as a mere“ distraction”. He vowed to go to any length to ensure that the scandal was not swept under the carpet.
Falana disclosed further that he had written the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Captain Fola Akinkiotu, to furnish him with the necessary documents relating to the controversial armoured cars procurement.
He said he would not hesitate to approach court to compel the NCAA should the Director General of NCAA failed to provide the documents within a stipulated time.
Asked if the Economic Financial Crimes commission, EFCC which had been declared broke could prosecute the case, Falana averred that he didn’t believe that the commission is broke to the point that it cannot prosecute the case. He pledged to render support to the EFCC if needed.
