The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin, has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of plotting to cripple his business by continuous closure of his petrol station, T. Five Integrated Service.
The Ministry of Physical and Urban Planning had on October 21 sealed off four filling stations in Ado Ekiti for contravening environmental laws. The government said they were sited within residential areas.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, Omirin said he paid N1.5m to government coffers and got all necessary approvals from relevant government agencies before building the petrol station.
He said, “This is my little contributions to solving the problems of unemployment in Ekiti and people are being deprived the opportunity to seek employment in the place with this closure.
“Fayose has done everything to frustrate me, including killing me politically. I pray to God to touch his heart to be able to rule with the fear of God. Some people from the government came to seal off the place again last year .
“They pasted one paper on the wall of the petrol station and put it under lock and key. Information contained in the paper revealed that I did not produce evidence of approval to set up the business.
“I presented the police, Fire Service and Ministry approval and all the documents were submitted to the Ministry of Lands and Planning and were received by Permanent Secretary, Rev. Ojo. So, I didn’t expect them to seal off the place again, having done that.
“Though, I suspect foul-play when I was directed to Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Modupe Alade, and Commissioner For Works, Mr. Kayode Oso, who confirmed to me that they were not involved in the matter.
“This situation appears to me as more of political victimisation and vendetta. I have a residential building behind it that I am planning to pack into. Does that mean I cannot pack in now.”
Omirin, a member of the All Progressives Congress, urged Ekiti indigenes to advise Fayose to shun political vendetta, because it was scuttling his little efforts to contribute to the economic development of the state.
