The crisis rocking the Ekiti State House of Assembly assumed a dangerous dimension as lawmakers elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC fleed the state and took refuge in Lagos.
The fleeing 19 APC lawmakers while speaking in Lagos said they decided to seek refuge in the state because Governor Ayodele Fayose had, ‘ taken over ‘ the system. According to them, the state owned Ekiti State Broadcasting Service is being partisan in the way it has been reporting the impasse in the House.
Ominrin, who was reportedly impeached by 7 PDP lawmakers earlier in the day insisted that he remained the authentic speaker of the House stressing that it will require 18 lawmakers to remove him as speaker.
“I cannot be removed by seventeen and half members. I can only be impeached by 18 members. What the PDP lawmakers had done remained an illegal act and cannot stand”, Ominrin
