The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru has urged Nigerians to forge a national cohesion as Nigeria goes through unprecedented turbulent period.
Abiru made the appeal in a goodwill message he issued in Lagos on Wednesday to mark the end of the fasting.
He said, I felicitate with our esteemed constituents especially the Muslim Ummah of the Lagos East Senatorial District on the occasion of this year’s Eid El Fitr, which marks the completion of the Ramadan fasting.
“I enjoin all believers who obeyed Allah’s commandment to fast in the Holy month of Ramadan not to relent in demonstrating Godly virtues and eschew vices they avoided during the fasting in obedience to divine command.
“The unprecedented challenges facing our dear nation demand bipartisan and patriotic efforts at rescuing the country from the cliff. This is the time to come together in unity to forge a national cohesion, tolerance and peace.
“Like I said I referenced in my goodwill message at the commencement of the fasting that, ‘ Our challenges, though daunting but not insurmountable’ if we collectively renew our commitment to nation building”.
