
President Muhammadu Buhari has kicked out the former Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme, Kingsley kuku and appointed a Retired Military man, Brigadier-General P.T. Boroh to interface with the erstwhile deadly converted militants.
Femi Adesina, Senior Special Adviser on Media and Public disclosed in a statement that Brig. Boroh appointment takes immediate effect.
The appointment of a new Coordinator for the Amnesty Programme is expected to lead to the speedy resolution of recent hitches in its implementation such as the non-payment of outstanding allowances to ex-militants, the statement adds.
The former Amnesty boss, Kuku who claimed he treating a ‘knee injury’ in a US hospital boasted that he was ready to for Buhari’s probe adding that he had nothing to hide.
The Ondo State born politician was among the arrowheads of the former President Goodluck Jonathan Government which was accused of plundering Nigerian resources. Apart for Kuku who is in the United States, scores of ministers who served under Jonathan have been hibernating abroad.
The darling of the Jonathan Government, Madam Diezani Alison Madueke was reported to be ‘recuperating’ in London Hospital.
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party has cried over what it described as persecution of ex-lieutenants of former President Jonathan. Infact, the PDP Spokesman, Olisa Metuh lamented that they had been turned to prisoners of war.
