The embattled National Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has reportedly resigned as the chairman of the of the party.
Tukur has been struggling to retain his job for months. He had enlisted prominent leaders of the party to prevail on the aggrieved members of the party to rescind their decision to sack him as the chairman of the PDP.
He was accused of high-handedness among other accusations.
The former old Gongola state governor may have thrown in the towel at last night crucial caucus meeting of the party.
President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to inform the meeting of the National Caucus of the party later today in Abuja about the development.
It was gathered that the embattled chairman resigned to avoid being disgraced by by the members of the NWC.
