Controversial relationship therapist and social media personality, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has apologised for her past comments, saying she has learnt a painful lesson and is ready to make amends.
Okoro made the apology in an emotional video posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday, days after her release from custody and amid her grief over the recent death of her nine-year-old son, Bryan.
Bryan died in a hospital on June 8, 2026, while his mother was in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos, over separate fraud allegations.
The boy, who was said to have suffered from chronic asthma, had experienced recurring health challenges from childhood.
Since her release on bail in late October, Blessing CEO has spoken publicly about the loss, expressing regret that she was unable to be with her son before his death.
In the latest video, she was seen crying inside a car, explaining that she had left home because she did not want her mother to see her in such a state.
“I had to run away from the house. I’m inside the car because I don’t want my mum to see me like this. My family, what do you want me to do? Tell me because I’m confused. My brain is numb,” she said.
The social media personality acknowledged that her words might have hurt some people, admitting that she had spoken about experiences she had not personally encountered.
“I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I know nothing about. I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I’ve never felt. I’m sorry for speaking about it carelessly,” she said.
Reflecting on the backlash, Okoro said she had realised that words alone were insufficient, noting that actions mattered more than promises.
“I’m realising that talk is cheap. Talk is cheap. Action speaks louder than words. I’m so ashamed of myself, but I’m human. I’m bound to make mistakes, but mistakes also have a price, and I’m paying for it with my own tears,” she added.
She described herself as broken and exhausted, appealing to those who had been hurt by her comments to forgive her.
“I’m sorry if my words have affected you in any way. Now I can feel the pain, and I don’t even wish it for my worst enemy. Maybe I was just ignorant. Life has taught me a lesson,” she said.
Okoro also apologised to those who had continued to support her and those who had withdrawn their affection because of her actions.
“To those who still love me despite everything, I’m sorry. To those who no longer love me because of my actions, I’m sorry,” she said.
Describing her decision to return to her family as that of a prodigal child, she said she was not ashamed of seeking refuge where she had previously been loved and accepted.
“I’m back home like the prodigal son in the Bible. I’m not ashamed of coming back home where I was celebrated and had everything in abundance. Instead of eating crumbs on the table, this is me making a U-turn,” she said.
She further appealed for an opportunity to make amends, saying she was ready to abandon her previous mistakes and start afresh.
“I’m not ashamed to be lost. I just want to find my way back. Let’s start all over again. Now I have learnt my lesson in a very hard way, and I’m sorry,” she added.
The emotional video also saw Okoro address her late son, Bryan, whom she affectionately called Doom Doom, saying she missed him and promising to correct her mistakes.
“To my son who passed, whom I call Doom Doom, I miss you. I miss you, Bryan. I miss you so much, and I promise to correct every wrong. I’m ready to correct every wrong to keep making you proud in heaven,” she said.
She disclosed that his death had continued to affect the family, particularly his grandmother, adding that they sometimes hid from each other to cry.
“Your brother misses you so much. Granny has been crying. In fact, me and your granny used to hide to cry. I saw my mum break down this morning, and I couldn’t even look at her face,” she said.
Okoro also mentioned other members of the family who, according to her, continued to miss the deceased, including his father, brother and other relatives.
She recalled her desire to collect her son’s school bag, uniform, lunchbox and books, saying she hoped to gather his belongings as part of coming to terms with his death.
“I’m sorry, Bryan. I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I’m sorry I came late. I don’t know, but I’m sorry,” she said.
Towards the end of the video, the social media personality spoke about the weight of her grief, praying for divine intervention as she struggled to cope with the loss.
“I’m praying that God finds me before it’s too late to shut down my heart and me to bury my own child. The pain is too much,” she said.
