The embattled Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode is desperately seeking ministerial appointment after leaving office on May 29, 2019, a credible Abuja source has disclosed.
The source who spoke on condition of anonymity to COMPLETENEWS at the weekend said the governor who has been conspicuously missing at the major campaign events of All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu joined President Muhammadu Buhari campaign in Kaduna last week ostensibly to get the president’s sympathy for appointment.
It was also reliable gathered that the governor has been acting as father chrismas with deep pocket as he often volunteers to pick the bills of campaign and rallies expenses even without formal request from him.
“ I can confirm to you that the governor of Lagos State Akin (Akinwunmi Ambode) is desperately looking for ministerial appointment after his term. We are all surprised that he has been picking bills of campaign expenses without prompting.
“ I don’t know how he wants to be a minister in Buhari’s government without support from his base. His predecessor, Babatunde Fashola, who is a super minister in this government, will never support such bid. Does he want to relieve Fashola or is he expecting two ministers from Lagos?’ , the source told COMPLETE NEWS.
Meanwhile, sources within the ruling party in Lagos have complained that the governor has not been supporting the campaign of Babajide Sanwo-Olu the way he should For instance, the usual Christmas welfare to party members were not done last Christmas.
Aside party support, checks by this medium revealed that most of the ongoing projects in Lagos have been abandoned following the governor’s botched second term.
In Ikorodu for instance, the construction firm handling the construction of Agric- Ishawo Road and Igbogbo Baiyeku Road respectively have vacated the sites due to non-release of funds. Residents, commuters and motorists in these areas go through hell passing through the roads daily.
While Ambode’s contractors vacated construction sites, Federal Government contractor, Arab Contractors handling Sagamu / Ikorodu is busy working day and night. COMPLETE NEWS correspondent confirmed that a section of the road around Odogunyan axis had been completed by Arab Contractors.
Insinuations are rife among party apparatchiks that Governor Ambode deliberately abandoned ongoing projects in highly density areas to undermine the chances of the party governorship candidate in the forthcoming elections.
