The alleged dollar rain of President Goodluck Jonathan caused pandemonium in Ogun State yesterday as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, campaign co-ordinators drawn from the 236 wards across the State almost lynched the South W est Zonal Secretary of the party, Chief Pegba Otemolu, for allegedly cornering their shares of the largesse.
The Complete News gathered that ward campaign coordinators threw caution into the wind when Alhaji Fatai Adeyanju, the National Auditor of the party and Chief Pegba Otemolu were foot-dragging when asked to produce the money.
The money was for the coordinators who were expected to invade their community with the transformation and continuity mantra of President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to one of the aggrieved coordinators who preferred anonymity told newsmen that Adeyanju informed them that the money had not been deposited in the designated account, when they knew he was lying.
The co-ordinators consequently held the two party leaders hostage and insisted that they would not allow them to go until they release the fund meant for them.
The two party leaders were held hostage for hours after which some political thugs escorted Otemolu out of the hall and he quickly entered his waiting Honda Pilot SUV.
President Goodluck Jonathan has been reported to have been dolling out dollars to his campaigners across the country.
It will be recalled that Governor Babatunde Fashola accused him of splashing dollars on women groups that paid a courtesy visit on him when he visited Lagos few weeks back.
