A caucus of the All Progressives Congress in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The caucus also endorsed former Kwara APC chairman, Bashir Bolarinwa, as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election in the state, describing him as a capable and unifying figure.
The endorsement was announced on Wednesday at a gathering held in Shao Moro Local Government area of the state, where party leaders, elders, and grassroots mobilisers converged to deliberate on the future of the party and the state.
Convener of the gathering, Dr. Bolaji Afolabi, who spoke on behalf of the stakeholders, said the caucus was united in its commitment to sustaining progress at both the state and national levels, citing the Tinubu-led administration’s reform-driven policies and leadership style.
“We begin by reaffirming our unwavering support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2027.
“Since assuming office, he has demonstrated bold leadership and taken decisive steps to reposition Nigeria’s economy and governance structure. Though challenging, these reforms are necessary for long-term stability and prosperity,” he said
He highlighted key policies of the Tinubu administration, including the removal of fuel subsidy, exchange rate unification, infrastructure investments, and the introduction of a student loan scheme, describing them as “courageous steps” aimed at rebuilding the nation’s economic foundation.
“The removal of fuel subsidy has reduced systemic corruption and freed up resources for national development, while exchange rate unification has improved transparency and boosted investor confidence,” he said.
Speaking on the governorship endorsement, Afolabi said Bolarinwa’s leadership qualities and political experience make him well-suited to lead the state.
“Dr. Bolarinwa is a man of proven capacity with outstanding leadership credentials. His tenure as APC chairman in Kwara demonstrated exceptional organisational competence, culminating in the party’s total victory in the 2019 general elections.
“He enjoys wide acceptability across the state, remains a strong unifier, and played a crucial role in the OTOGE political movement that reshaped Kwara’s political landscape,” he said.
The convener further called on the leadership of the APC to consider the Moro Local Government Area for the House of Representatives seat in 2027.
He argued that the area’s consistent electoral support for the party justifies such consideration.
“Moro LGA has remained a stronghold of the APC with a track record of loyalty and grassroots mobilisation. It is only fair and just that the area is given the opportunity to produce the next representative at the federal level,” he said.
The caucus reaffirmed its commitment to the ideals of the APC and pledged continued support for the party’s leadership at all levels.
“We stand united in our support for President Tinubu’s second term, the emergence of Dr. Bolarinwa as governor of Kwara State, and the rightful representation of Moro LGA at the House of Representatives,” Afolabi declared.
