The Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore has said that the people of Daura, the hometown of the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari have rejected the president and welcomed him as a credible alternative in 2019.
Sowore who said this Thursday morning on Arise News flagship prograame, The Morning Show added that the people of the town hailed him ‘Sai Bobo’ when he visited the president’s town recently.
The founder of Sahara Reporters added that his campaign had been receiving tremendous supports from all over the world from those who believed in his ambition. According to him, the Gofundme account he opened for crowdfunding has received over $100,000 from donors worldwide.
He added that Nigerians have contributed over 30m naira to the campaign local account domiciled with Zenith Bank.
The presidential candidate also called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to probe the sources of funding of the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, Buhari and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Recall that Sowore was reported to have visited Daura last Sunday where he bemoaned the lack of infrastructure in the town.
The activist turned politician had kicked off a 100-city tour on November 22. He has so far reached Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states, COMPLETENEWS gathered.
He said, “This is Daura, the hometown of the President, but as you can see the roads are terrible, there is no electricity, people are poor here, the street lights don’t work and people here have welcomed us as you can see.
“This is why Nigerians should vote capacity and competence, rather than ethnicity and religion. It doesn’t matter if the person is your own; if he cannot deliver, he cannot deliver.”
He called on Nigerians to unite in their quest for good governance for the people, irrespective of the section, tribe or religion, in order for the country to move forward.
Sowore was accompanied on the visit by Dr. Rabiu Ahmed Rufai, the AAC vice-presidential candidate.
