
The security forces have killed about 30 suspected terrorists who escaped from the detention of the State Security Service in the early hours of today.
A highly placed millitary source who pleaded anonymity disclosed the casaulties to Complete News.
The source added that the security operative are still combing a bush around the SSS headquarters in search of fleeing four suspects.
Boko Haram suspected terrorists who were detained at the Headquarters of the SSS in Abuja had this morning overpowered an operative who had gone to feed them and shot him.
The terrorists reportedly freed others members and engaged the combined security forces in hot gun duels.
The booming sounds of guns at the SSS headquarters which is just behind the Aso rock, Nigeria’s seat power prompted a heavy reinforcement of security in and within the villa.
There were also reports that the escaping terrorists planned to gain enterance into the Villa, the residence of the president. The attempt which was reportedly repelled by soldiers.
The access gate to the seat of power through the Fire Service office in Asokoro was quickly shut while more heavily armed soldiers were seen at the gate leading to the Villa through the Federal Secretariat.
Military helicopters were also seen hovering the sky for aerial surveillance.
The residents around the area have remained indoors for the fear of being caught in cross fire.
