
The Managing Director of Evergreen Musical Company, Mrs Bimbo Esho has denied the partnership claim by the Lagos State Government that was published in 2018 calendar of events for Tourism , Arts and Culture in the state claiming they are into partnership.
Esho who also tackled the government for using her company’s intellectual material including her picture in its tourism calendar without permission said the claim was false.
The Lagos State, through its Ministry of Tourism, Arts and culture had claimed that he was partnering with Evergreen Music Foundation to organize Faaji Eko Concert Series, a musical show to celebrate music of yester years.
COMPLETE NEWS got a copy of the publication last Monday at the Eko Hotels and Suites where the state held its maiden Tourism Summit attended by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, former President of Ghana, John Mahama, Information minister Lai Mohammed, Director-General of Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, Mr Folorunsho Folarin-Coker among other top industry stakeholders.
In a statement signed by Esho, the promoter noted that her company had since wrote the state government to register their displeasure over such an act intellectual property theft.
The statement read, “I write to formally disassociate myself from this event tagged ” Faaji Eko” with my picture and name put in a Lagos State Tourism Publication without my consent.
“Our company has since sent a letter to Lagos State Ministry of Tourism to clarify this issue and the ministry has responded through writing that this event will be organized by them in June while another Faaji Agba also by them in September.
“Our Company has an outstanding 20 years remarkable performance in entertainment in Nigeria and will continuously work together with people and institutions that believe in the sustenance of our musical heritage.
“Please note any musician, companies and professionals contacted on these one off event which was put together Last Year by Evergreen Musical Company, City People Entertainment, MMIs to primarily celebrate 10 Music Icons of Lagos rootsthat would have been forgotten into the doldrums of history on a landmark celebration of Lagos 50 years Formation may be on his or her own”.
