The final rounds of 2015 presidential debate is underway in Nigeria. The Presidential Candidate of the All progressives Congress, APC General Muhammadu Buhari, however shunned the debate which is been aired on major, national television and radio stations.
President Goodluck Jonathan who is also the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party argued that he should be returned as president as a result of his performance in office.
He claimed that his administration had transformed the transportation, agriculture and the privitization of the power sector.
Jonathan said this period is sensitive because he needed to consolidate of on the gains his administration has recorded so far.
Martins Onovo, the candidate of the National Conscience Party said the nation has no business with under-development arguing that the NCP government which will be people oriented will solve the problems.
The only female candidate, Mrs Comfort Sonaiya said she had answered to the nations problems adding that her heart bled anytime she thought about Nigeria.
Godson Okoye, of the United Democratic Party decried the sorry state of Nigerian state saying he posses
United Progressives Party candidate,Chekwas Okorie, said his administration if elected will open up the nation’s economy and turn Nigeria to vibrant economy as one of the Asian Tiger nations.
He said his government will show practical example towards the fight against corruption.
On corruption said, Onovo,said that the monster should be confronted frontally stressing that the corruption can collapse Nigeria if not tackled. He bemoaned heavy funds expended on election saying the NCP government which is a core socialist oriented party will check the menace.
On his own, Dr Jonathan repeated his usual statement that his government will continue to prevent avenue to loot. He cited the example of the scandal in the fertilizer sector of how the menace should addressed.
Godson Okoye while answering the question alluded to nepotism, selective fight against corruption as why the scourge remained.
Chekwas Okorie of UPP said his government will restructure the security votes which governors spend at will. He said there will be international collaboration among countries.
Comfort Sonaiya, said the crisis facing the nation was not as a result of God’s act. She attributed rhe problems to the corruption by the ruling elites.
Sonaiya queried why Nigerian politicians should be earning massive and jumbo pay while the citizens are groaning in poverty….
