President Goodluck Jonathan today commissioned 450 megawatts capacity power plant in Omotosho in Ondo state.
Jonathan, while commissioning the project assured that power will be more stabilized come next year. He recounted his achievements in the power sector which include, increased generation capacity, the unbundling of the PHCN companies and the successful privatization of the nation’s power sector.
He thanked the governor of the state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko who hinted that his government will soon commission a 30 megawatt capacity in the state.
Speaking earlier, the minister of power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, disclosed that up to 10 more power plants will be commissioned by the President before the end of next year. The minister averred that those claiming that the government was not working needed to see the power plants being commissioned by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Nebo noted that what successive governments considered impossible had been achieved by Jonathan’s administration.
Also in his remarks, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state hailed the president’s efforts at turning around the power sector. Mimiko admitted that power has “significantly improved” in the country.
Other dignitaries in attendance at the commissioning include; Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Yero, Deputy Governor of Ekiti, Prof, Modupe Adelabu, Minister of state for Federal Capital Territory, Oloye Jumoke Olajide, Minister of Information Communication Technology, Mrs Omobola Johnson among others.
