The Labour Party, LP Gubernatorial candidate in the Anambra State governorship election, Chief Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah had a crucial meeting with the leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja yestersday. A move, many observers believed was a prelude to the defection of the capital oil boss into the PDP.
Ubah who was at Wadata plaza, National Secretariat of PDP, was seen discussing with the PDP’s flagbearer in the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship elections Ayo Fayose.
The oil mogul was also sighted having frank discussions with the PDP national publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh.
Thereafter, Ubah came to the National Executive Committee, NEC hall where he had brief discussions with some members of the National Working Committee, NWC.
Complete News also gathered that he went to Metuh’s office with PDP chairman, Anambra State chapter Chief Ken Emeakayi to wait for Chief Metuh who was at NEC hall coordinating the presentation of certificate of return to Fayose by PDP national chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu.
Ifeanyi Uba, who is the owner of the Capital Oil PLC came third in the keenly contested governorship election in Anambra state last year.
Uba, alongside two other prominent candidates namely; Dr. Chris Ngige(APC) and Comrade Tony Nwoye(PDP) kicked against the conduct of the election alleging that the poll was rigged in favour of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA candidates Chief Willie Obiano.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the PDP applauded the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC for conducting what it called ” a credible” election. The party compelled its candidate, Nwoye to accept the outcome of the election which was widely regarded as charade.
