There are indications that former Ekiti Governor, Olusegun Oni may have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and joined the All Progress Congress, APC.
The Ifaki-Ekiti born politician reportedly said he dumped the PDP formally today in his home town in Ekiti State.
Oni is said to have taken the major step, which changes all political calculations in the state ahead of next month’s governorship contest, along with about 25,000 of his supporters.
He and his supporters at the event in Ifaki-Ekiti received the APC flag.
Our sources point out that in just 48hrs, the membership of the PDP in the state has altered dramatically in the wake of critical defections to the APC of Mr. Oni, and Taiwo Olatunbosun, over the weekend. Olatunbosu was said to have left for the APC because he cannot stand Mr. Ayodele
Fayose, who is the PDP candidate in the June 21 gubernatorial poll.
Governor Kayode Fayemi today described Mr. Oni’s arrival in the APC as a huge victory for the party as the election approaches. He stated that the former governor would be welcomed to the APC at an enlarged rally on May 21st 2014.
