After weeks of intense struggle to save his job, the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu today threw in the towel. He resigned as chairman of the party.
Prominent chieftains of the PDP including the chairman Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Aninih, Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose and his Niger State counterpart, Babangida Aliyu had called for Muazu’s resignation following the humiliating defeat of the PDP at the 2015 general elections.
Muhazu, in a letter he reportedly wrote to the Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, Muazu, noted that due to the abysmal performance of the party in the 2015 general elections, it became imperative for him to leave and for peace to reign in the PDP.
In the letter, he asked Secondus to step in as acting National Chairman in line with the party’s constitution.
When the going was good, Muazu was the darling of the PDP members affectionately called him ‘the Game Changer’.
