In a bid to forestall security breach in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has in the last one year repatriated 2,000 illegal immigrants.
The Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat of the FCTA, Mrs Blessing Onu disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja on today.
Speaking on the activities of the secretariat, Onu said half of the deported immigrants were from the Niger Republic.
According to her, “The FCT Administration constituted an inter-agency committee made up of the military, civil defence corps, police, Nigeria immigration service and SSS with the help of social workers in the secretariat to rid the city of illegal immigrants.
“At the end of the exercise, about 2,000 illegal immigrants were identified and repatriated to their various countries”.
She hinted that the FCTA was planning to strengthen the law against commercial sex.
She called on non governmental organisations to assist in keeping the women away from the street.
