Governor of the State Osun, . Rauf Aregbesola who has been in the eye of the storm appears not to be perturbed the raging crisis occasioned by his inability to pay workers’ salaries for several months.
He was all smile on Friday in Abuja as a Non- Governmental Organisation, Voice of African Women for Human Dignity, an NGO conferred on him an award for service to humanity.
Hajia Amina Idris, the president of group, while presenting the award to Aregbesola said, “This award of excellence is in recognition of your immense contribution to humanity”.
She added that the Governor had been exceptionally helpful in the area of improving child education and promotion of human dignity through lofty programmes.
Meanwhile, Aregbesola, while recounting his usual lines of argument for not able to discharge his obligation to Osun workers said, “I have found it hard to pay the wage bills owing to the declining federal allocation to the state.
“Federal allocation to the state has reduced by 40 per cent since 2013, thereby making it difficult for my government to meet its responsibilities,” he said.
The Governor also disclosed that he had plunged the state into about N12b in his desperate moves to rescue the situation adding that he had empty the reserves to offset wages.
