Lagos residents were shocked yesterday to see the urbane Lagos State Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr. Jimi Agbaje rode on the back of a commercial motorcycle popularly called Okada into the arena of the Trade Fair Complex in Ojo area of the state.
Agbaje bemoaned the insensitivity and the injustice that the APC-led government meted to the people of the state. He declared that the Lagos needed a change in leadership on May 29, 2015 to move forward stressing that the state cannot afford to the reign of All Progressives Congress, APc again.
He contended that the state had been held down by the ruling party in the last 16 years. He reasoned that this has led to a situation where the APC dehumanize and oppress Lagosians.
He flayed the incumbent governor Babatunde Fashola for using and dumping Okada riders okada riders after he had used them for election.
Agbaje noted that the okada policy was faulty in view of the fact that it left stakeholders without alternatives.
According to him, even in other APC state where the same policy was adopted, okada riders were provided a new lease of life
A statement signed by Mr Felix Oboagwina, director media and publicity to Agbaje said the governorship candidate who spoke at an event organized by a coalition of non-governmental organizations at the trade fair complex Saturday promised to address injustices done to Lagosians
He however charged them to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan and other PDP candidates in the coming elections to make the country better
Earlier, a Lagos based Clergy; Arch Bishop Samson Benjamin said Lagosians are tired of the impunity of the APC led government
He based this on the facts that the people are in pains sixteen years after voting the party into office
Benjamin particularly warned Nigerians to be wary of the party in view of its penchant for using religious sentiments to divide Nigerians
He called on them to support the re-election of President Jonathan and the candidature of Agbaje in the general elections
He hinged this on the fact that the APC has nothing to offer Nigerians, just as he said Nigeria has moved in leaps and bounds under Jonathan
