A former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ibrahim Mantu, has claimed that after he fasted for thirty days and thirty nights to know the suitable person to lead the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, God revealed Professor Tunde Adeniran to him.
Mantu who proclaimed himself as a born-again said whatever he says from henceforth will be truth and urged PDP members to trust him.
The former senator spoke at the declaration by Prof. Tunde Adeniran who is aspiring to become PDP national chairman. The convention is fixed for December 9 in Abuja.
“I’m now born again, whatever I say now is the truth. Some people came to the PDP with nothing and left with billions. We need to bring the party to the people now. We need to be sober and apologise for what we have done wrong in the past.
“After fasting and prayer, I fasted for 30 days and night asking God to show me who would lead the party. God showed me Adeniran.
“Let’s now look forward and make sure that we elect a credible chairman. We should make sure that nobody short-changes us at the national convention”, Mantu said.
Prof Adeniran was born in 1945, he hailed from Ekiti State. He is a Political Scientist and a product of the first University in Nigeria, the University of Ibadan. He also attended Columbia University in the United States of America.
He had worked for the the United Nations Organisation in the mid-seventies and also taught in some American Universities before he took up appointment at the University of Ibadan where he worked for twenty (20) years before he retired to go into politics in 1998.
Adeniran later served as the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany at some point. He became the first Minister of Education (June 1999 – January 2001) in the 4th Republic, made success of the Universal Basic Education Scheme.
He came out with a policy banning satellite campuses and abolished the discretional list in the admission pattern of universities. As part of his laudable achievements, he laid the foundation for the establishment of NOUN.
