
The Lagos State House Assembly has pledged its support for the Office of the Overseas Affairs and Investment (Lagos Global), a special investment drive office established by the Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode .
The Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Rotimi Abiru who disclosed the resolutions of the House described Lagos Global as “small unit but indeed a very powerful one as it will serve as a one stop – shop for foreign investor wishing to do business in the State”.
Abiru who is also the Chairman House Committee on Ethics, Protocols and Privileges said this while receiving officials of the Office of Overseas Affairs and Investment (Lagos Global) to Assembly complex on Tuesday.
He further said that in the discharge of your responsibilities however, there is need to take cognizance of the provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as it deals with Exclusive and Concurrent list
He however implored the office to embark on aggressive publicity drive that would enable the public to be aware of their existence, within and outside of the country.
Another member of the Committee, Hon. Segun Olulade congratulated the office for starting well urging them to continually strengthen the relationship between the executive and legislature for the betterment of the citizenry.
He noted that the “State Government is creating a platform that can stand on in the future”.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the office, Mr. Olajide Bashorun who said the creation of the office is by an executive order but however assured that necessary legislation to further strengthen their operation is being worked on and would be sent to the House as soon as work is completed on it. .
“If we improve Lagos, we are improving Nigeria. We would establish relationship with the State Media Organisation for the existence of the office and to further create awareness to the public “he said.
Also present at the meeting Hon. Akeem Bello, Minority Leader representing Amuwo Odofin II and Hon. Sangodara Mosunmola, Minority Whip representing Surulere II Constituency.
