The All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold a crucial meeting with all its Senators-elect and House of Representatives; members-elect on Thursday, the 4th of June, at the International Conference Centre in
Abuja.
In a statement issued in Abuja today by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party explained that it will meet with its Senators-elect at 10 a.m. while the meeting with its elected
members of the House of Representatives is scheduled for 2 p.m. on the same day at the same venue.
It urged all the elected APC federal lawmakers to be punctual for their respective meetings.
Though, the ruling party did not disclose what will be discussed at ‘crucial meeting’.
However, investigations by The Complete News revealed that the urgent meeting is not unconnected with the intense squabble for the positions of the Senate President and the speaker House of Representatives respectively.
The battle for the senate presidency is between Senator Bukola Saraki (Kwara Central) and Senator Ahmed Lawan from Yobe State. The two gladiators have divided the senate over their ambition.
It was gathered that Saraki, a two term Governor of Kwara State and a former chairman, Nigerian Governors’ Forum was mustering all weapons in his arsenal to clinch the exalted post.
Also, Lawan is not leaving anyone in doubt over his ambition. He has been a regular face on many prominent television stations canvassing for support from Nigerians and his colleagues.
He was in Lagos about two weeks where he had a ‘special parley’ with political editors of newspaper houses.
