Abdul Kabir Aregbesola, son of the Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola has threatened to sue the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa for stating that he was caught by security operatives while trying to launder huge amount of foreign currecies out of the country at the Muritala Muhammed Airport.
The Governor’s son through his lawyer, Ajibola Basiru Esq. wrote Olaoluwa, asking him to retract the malicious and offensive statement made against Mr. Aregbesola with apology within 7 days of the receipt of the letter.
The lawyer added that failure to do so would activate legal action against him with attendant consequence and he demanded that the retraction must be published by at least two national newspapers, which must be widely circulated.
In the same vein, the Vanguard regretted the alleged defamatory report saying, “yesterday’s edition of Vanguard, we published a story with the headline: “Controversy trails Aregbesola’s son’s alleged arrest, “and quoting a source as confirming the arrest of the son of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State for money laundering. We have since discovered that the report was false in its entirety as no son of Governor Aregbesola was arrested as reported. We hereby tender our sincere apology for the embarrassment the story must have caused the governor and his family”.
