The hyped Lagos 2015 carnival is today! Contingents in their colourful regalia and costumes have started converging for the carnival rally, The Complete News can authoritatively report.
Tourists from nations of the world are expected to grace the event. The carnival provides opportunity for the world to grasp the rich cultural heritages of Lagos and thus Nigeria.
Thousands of Lagos residents are expected to join the carnival rally which will traverse selected areas in the Lagos Central district and climax at the venue of the event, TBS.
In anticipation of the huge human and vehicle traffic , the Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions in some areas on Lagos Island.
Kayode Opeifa,, the state Commissioner for Transportation, announced that there would be road closures and traffic diversions around the Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, venue of the carnival, and other carnival routes especially in Victoria Island and Ikoyi areas from 8am to 6pm
The affected roads according to the commissioner include: Burdillion, Falomo Round About, Awolowo rd, Onikan Round About, King George V, Turton Street, Lewis Street, Bamgbose Street, Campos Square, Joseph Street, Catholic Mission-Street, King’s College, J K Randle Road, TBS main bowl.
He added that guests with invitation cards are expected to park at any of the designated parks along Inner Marina Road; Nigeria Port Authority, NPA, car park, Sterling Bank car park, CONOIL car park, Shell car park, Onikan Stadium car park.While, quest without invitation cards are to make use of car parks opposite UBA Building.
LAGBUS, the red buses, would provide limited free bus shuttle services for members of the public from 9.30am today from the following locations; Berger, Mile 12, Oshodi, Ajah and Festac, to CMS and Obalende using specially designated buses.
