The Governor of Oyo and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress State Senator Abiola Ajimobi who won the election has declared ‘ No Victor, No Vanquish’.
Ajimobi reasoned that there was no need for acrimony stressing that they (contestants)remained brothers. He urged them to join hands with him to advance the course of the state.
The Governor admitted that the confidence reposed in him by the Oyo people was challenge to rededicate himself to the service of the state. According to him, it took God grace for him to achieve the feat of being the first Governor to be re-elected twice in the state.
His words, “I rededicate myself to the serve of the people. We are all brothers at the end of the day. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to achieve feat unprecedented in the history of the state. The greatest form of godliness is to serve humanity”
Ajimobi garnered 327,310 votes, to beat his keen rivals, former Governors Rasheed Ladoja, and former governor, Alao Akala.
Ladoja, who ran on the platform of Accord Party came second with 254,520 votes and Adebayo Alao Akala, candidate of Labour Party came third with 184,111 votes.
The PDP candidate, Teslim Folarin emerged fourth with 79,019 votes. The SDP candidate, Seyi Makinde also got 54,740 votes.
Three of the parties also shared the house of assembly seats, with APC winning 18, Accord 8 seats and Labour Party 6 seats.
