The Niger State Governor and the chairman Northern Governors forum, Muazu Babangida Aliyu has said those jumping ship after the poor outing of the PDP at the last Presidential elections are morally bankrupt.
Mu’azu who also lost his bid to represent Niger East district in the Senate said he wouid quit partisan politics rather than defecting to the All Progressives Congress, (APC) or any other party.
His words, “Those who have defected from PDP to APC have clearly demonstrated that they are not principled and they are suffering from poverty, lack integrity and notmorals and could easily be described as stomack politicians. For me, I will rather resign from politics than defect to APC or any other party.”
Apparently referring to 10 immediate past local government Chairmen who defected from PDP to APC few days ago said some of them have decided to remain in the PDP after the last elections based on principle and on moral ground and vowed to float or sink with the party no matter the condition.
He told the 13 local government Caretaker local government chairmen that paid him a solidarity visit at Government house yesterday that the Saturday election should not be compared to the presidential election saying,”it is no longer Abuja or Buhari politics but local politics because people are interested and much more worried on who takes over from me that will be able to sustain our records on Education, free medical for women and the aged and somebody that will be able to maintain our peace initiatives and this is why you must be on ground to make sure that PDP wins the Governiorship and House of Assembly elections this Saturday,” he remarked.
He called on the electorates not be deterred by defections from PDP adding that those who should should worry are members of the APC who will soon have problems of political profiteers in their hands.
“For principles of integrity, morality, we have chosen to remain in PDP. I heard people insinuating that I have dumped my party candidate for the APC candidate. It is a lie, I will never do such a thing,” he declared.
