Lagos came to a halt today as National Chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) led party members and a coalition of ethnic nationality groups in a long march in support of the candidacy of President Goodluck Jonathan and Mr. Jimi Agbaje, Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The organiser of the mega rally, Dr. Frederick Fasehun extolled the virtues of Jonathan and accused his rival in the presidential polls, General Muhammadu Buhari, of “surrounding himself with politicians of doubtful character, who have plundered their states and appear committed to graduating their evil tendencies to the national level.”
Stretching for about two kilometres long parade of people and vehicles, the march took off at the Lagos Toll-Gate end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and terminated at the Tafawa Balewa Square on the Island.
Forming the bulk of the thousands of people in the long march were various ethnic stocks including: Ijaw, Edo, Igbo and Yoruba, with the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), of which Fasehun is Founder and President, featuring prominently.
In a short speech at the TBS terminal point of the event, Fasehun extolled the virtues of Jonathan and Agbaje, saying, they were the best of the contestants parading for their respective offices.
In the address, titled: Why Nigerians Want Jonathan Back On March 28, 2015, And Should Vote Jimi Agbaje Of PDP In Lagos On April 11, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, told the Mega Rally that “Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is the best man for the job because as President he has recorded unassailable achievements in the area of education, infrastructure, agriculture, etc.”
