The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has distanced itself from a comment credited to Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State that heavens will not fall if President Jonathan sacks INEC boss Jega from office.
It will be recalled that Fayose had yesterday called for the sacking of Jega, boasting that ‘ heavens will not fall’ if Jonathan kicks him out.
The party argued that Fayose’s comment should not mistaken as the PDP’s position on the controversial issue.
Deputy National Chairman of the Party, Prince Uche Secondus, cleared this while fielding questions from journalists in Abuja today.
“We are not fighting Jega. The opinion expressed by the governor of Ekiti State on the INEC chairman remains his own. He’s not speaking for the party”, he said.
