
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dissolved the Governing Council of Osun State University and reconstituted a new council to strengthen the governance structure of the institution.
The governor, in a statement issued on Friday in Osogbo, said the move was aimed at ensuring continuity in the administration of the university and preventing any gap in its operations.
The newly constituted council is chaired by Sooko (Prof.) Adewale Abiodun Oladipo as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman. Oladipo was also the chairman of the dissolved council.
Other members of the new council are Alhaji Gbadegesin Lawal; Her Excellency, Otunba Titi Laoye-Ponnle; Mr Akinola Franklin Omoniyi; Chief Funminiyi Awotide; Mr Orija Samuel Adebayo; and Mrs Adewale Adetayo Bola.
Adeleke charged the new council to build on the university’s achievements and provide the necessary support for its continued growth.
The governor specifically tasked the council to “sustain the excellent record of the University” and “support the university management for further innovative deliveries.”
The reconstitution, according to the statement, is also intended to “avoid gaps in the operation of the globally rated university.”
The inauguration of the new Governing Council will take place on Monday, August 31, 2026.
