It was a bloody scene today in Okrika Local Government in Rivers State as gunmen disrupted the rally the All Progressives Congress. The flag bearer of the party, Dr. Dakuku Peterside reportedly escaped death by whiskers.
Okrika is the local government of the First Lady Patience Jonathan who is also the major backer and financier of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Barrister Nyesom Wike.
It was gathered that APC candidate was whisked away by security operatives in the midst of the deafening sound of sporadic gunshots few minutes after three explosives went off close to the campaign ground at the Okrika National Secondary School Field.
Meanwhile, before the guns started booming, there was an initial bomb scare had caused a stampede as APC supporters took to their heels to avoid being hit by three separate explosions which were later confirmed to have been fireworks thrown into the scene by suspected mischief makers.
