Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have foiled multiple terrorist attacks, arrested suspects and intercepted large consignments of logistics linked to insurgents during operations across the North East between March 28 and 30, 2026.
The media officer of Joint Task Force (North East), Sani Uba, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the operations targeted terrorist enclaves and supply networks across Borno State and adjoining areas.
The statement said troops deployed in Damboa thwarted a planned attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters after detecting their movement through surveillance.
“In a major operational breakthrough, troops deployed at Damboa thwarted a planned Boko Haram/ISWAP attack after detecting terrorists’ movement through surveillance systems. The troops engaged the insurgents, forcing them to withdraw in disarray,” it stated.
It added that troops also repelled attempted attacks on farmers and communities in Gwoza and Askira Uba Local Government Areas, forcing the insurgents to retreat towards the Mandara Mountains.
The military said troops uncovered and detonated an improvised explosive device planted along the Goniri–Ngamdu axis.
“Recovered materials, including rail tracks used to canalise vehicles into a killing zone, highlight ongoing terrorist efforts to disrupt movement along critical routes,” the statement noted.
On logistics operations, the task force said troops intercepted vehicles conveying large quantities of supplies suspected to be meant for insurgents.
“The consignments, equivalent to two truckloads, were concealed in sacks and included cartons of medical drugs, motorcycle tubes and tyres, mosquito nets, rolls of mats, air filter cylinders, and detergents,” it said.
According to the military, the items were being transported without clearance towards a border community near Chad, adding that the vehicles and suspects have been handed over for further investigation.
The statement further disclosed that troops, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, arrested multiple logistics suppliers and collaborators.
“Troops of OPHK, in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force operatives, arrested a suspected logistics supplier, Mohammed Adamu (26), at Muna Garage… Preliminary findings indicate he had been supplying logistics, including motorcycle parts, to terrorists over an extended period,” it stated.
It added that 13 other suspects were arrested during operations in Gubio, while two additional suspects confessed to long-term involvement in supplying logistics to terrorists.
In a separate operation, troops arrested a suspected member of the JAS/ISWAP group, identified as Abubakar Ali, alias “Saina,” at a checkpoint while reportedly on a reconnaissance mission.
The task force also said a suspected kidnapper was apprehended in Damboa Local Government Area, while clearance operations in parts of the state led to the recovery of 450 wraps of suspected marijuana.
“The Military High Command commends the troops for their resilience, vigilance, and professional conduct, urging them to sustain the operational tempo to clear and deny terrorists freedom of action across the theatre of operations,” the statement added.
