The officers of the Anambra State Police Command, on Monday, engaged in a sanitation exercise and a free medical outreach in commands across the state as part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day celebration.
The exercise which took place across the eight Area Commands as well 56 divisional police headquarters locations in the State is aimed at promoting community health and strengthening police-community relations.
During the event, the officers and men of the Command actively participated in environmental sanitation, reinforcing the importance of a clean and healthy environment as part of public safety.
Speaking to journalists at the event, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra, CP Ikioye Orutugu, said the Command organised the free medical outreach to enable officers/residents benefit from basic health checks and medical consultations.
Orutugu said, “The Anambra State Police Command is commencing activities marking the 2026 National Police Day celebration with a sanitation exercise and a free medical outreach. This is aimed at promoting community health and strengthening police-community relations.
“The initiative underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to not only ensure security, but also contribute to the overall well-being of the citizens.
“This event is taking place across the eight Area Commands as well 56 Divisional Police headquarters locations in the state, reinforcing the importance of a clean and healthy environment as part of public safety.”
The CP emphasised that the Command remains dedicated to community-oriented policing and will continue to engage in initiatives that foster trust and collaboration with the public.
He enjoins residents to continue supporting the Police in their efforts to maintain peace and security across the State.
The sanitation exercise formed part of activities lined up by the Nigeria Police Force to commemorate this year’s National Police Day, which focuses on strengthening community engagement and fostering improved police-public relations.
