Niger State Governor and Chairman of the northern governor’s Forum Dr. Muasu Babangida Aliyu has urged that the northern part of the country should not be seen as a parasite on any part of the regions in the country, but as an integral part of Nigeria working for the its progress and oneness.
He said rather than be seen as parasites, the northerners should be seen as very hard working and contributing to the development of the country in all spheres of life.
According to him: ”We should henceforth reject the claim that we are parasites in Nigeria because we have shown that we have the capacity to make a difference before and even after independence.”
Governor Aliyu called on the northerners not to associate or harbour members of the Boko Haram, describing them as enemies of not only the region, Islam but also enemies of the country as a whole.
“Don’t identify or harbour the Boko Haram because anything they do will eventually affect all of us, no matter our religion or status. Nobody is praying for another civil war in the country and anybody that is attempting it should be ostracised,” the governor declared.
National president of the Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Sokoto Aliyu said they were in Minna to honour the governor for his security measures taken in the state and for uniting the people of the state.
He said because of his leadership role in the country, especially in the North, they will depend on him on whom to vote for in the 2015 general elections.
