The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Nigeria Segun Ogunsanya has said that Airtel has the largest 3.75G coverage among the telecom firms in the country. Ogunsanya made this known recently in Lagos at an event organized to celebrate the firm’s Channel Partners tagged “ Airtel Nigeria 2013 Channel Partners’ Champions Gala Night”.
The Airtel boss also added that the company was committed to current deepening of 3.75G coverage and network which according to him currently spans across the 36 states in the country including Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. He described the feat as a ‘flagship position’.
Ogunsanya was also excited about the opportunities Mobile Number Portability has brought urging Airtel’s Channel Partners to leverage on the company’s ‘leadership position in product innovation and excellent service experience’ to woo potential subscribers to the network.
He added that Airtel was always mindful of the strategic role the channels Partners play in the growth of the company which he said was the reason for the annual recognition of Channel partners.
“ As a business, we value our relationship with our business partners(Channel Partners) just as we strongly believe in the culture of recognizing, celebrating and rewarding excellence and exceptional performance” , Ogunsanya said.
While asking them to stand up for a resounding applause, he also charged them to commit more efforts into Airtel’s business to make Nigerians appreciate the brand more.
Ogunsanya admitted that 2012 was a tough year for Airtel because of the flood which was regarded as the most devastating in the history of the country, coupled with insecurity in some parts of Northern Nigeria. He commended the bravery acts of the Channel Partners in the face of daunting challenges.
“While I commend you, let me also request your full support especially now that we are about to close the end of the first quarter of 2013. Let us double our efforts to ensure we drive for more positive business impact”.
He added: “We must continue to commit to the vision of Airtel of being the most loved brands in the daily lives of Nigerians. For us at Airtel, we will continue to invest in the expansion of our network and the enhancement of quality of service”.
Exotic Sport Utility Vehicles, SUVs, buses, Motor bikes, electronic gadgets among other items were given to selected Channel Partners that met certain set sales criteria.
