
The Minister of Culture, Edem Duke has lauded Globacom’s youth oriented initiatives like Glo Soccer Academy, the X Factor as well as empowerment of iconic Nollywood stars and singers which spurs excellence and hardwork. He describes the gestures as germane to the development and empowerment of the future leaders of the country.
Duke made this known recently in Abuja at the commencement of the eight-city Glo Slide and Bounce Tour in Abuja. He also hailed the robust support of Globacom for key sectors of the economy, especially the provision of job opportunities for the large army of unemployed youths in the country.
He pledges that the Culture Ministry will always support Globacom’s youth initiatives
which are geared at empowering the teeming Nigerian youths.
Also speaking at the event, Kemi Kaka, Globacom’s Divisional Director, Abuja, assured young Nigerians of many value adding products and offerings that would support them to break all limits inhibiting them to be the best in their chosen field of human endeavours.
“The Slide and Bounce Tour is our way of saying thank you to the youths,entertain them and inspire them to achieve their dreams,” Kaka assures.
He disclosed that the Slide and Bounce train would move to Benin next weekend and later Ibadan, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Uyo and Lagos,adding that Nigerians would get the best in home grown entertainment from celebrated Glo Ambassadors and Legends.
It was a home coming for the twin sensation P square, Peter and Paul who grew up in Abuja.
They were at cynosure of all eyes with their electrifying performance which thrilled the audience while Naeto C, WAJE, Omawumi, Chee, the Voice, Lynxx, Burna Boy and Lagbaja serenaded the audience with their beautiful voices and different genre of music. Okey Bakassi kept the audience spell bound with ribcracking jokes.
The DJ Spinoff and Jimmy the Hypeman dished out popular tunes from the turntables.
