
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC Bola Tinubu last week boasted before first class monarch and paramount ruler, Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Larooye II saying Osun State doesn’t have the kind of money that could entice him.
Tinubu said this when he led APC chieftains to the palace of the monarch to seek support for Gboyega Oyetola, the governorship candidate of the APC in the September 22 governorship election in the state.
“They might have been saying that I (Asiwaju) is sending his stooge to loot Osun for him. I asked them, how much do you have in Osun? Kabiyesi, I am not quality to say this before you, ‘You don’t have the kind of money”, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba told the monarch.
The former Lagos State Governor spoke in response to allegations making rounds that Oyetola will be used as a stooge to loot the resources for him. Tinubu said if Oyetola was looking for money he would have stayed back in Lagos adding that Osun does not have money that could move the him(Oyetola).
Tinubu described Oyetola as a trustworthy fellow and an encyclopedia of finance. He said, “I will hand Gboyega Oyetola over to you, he is a trustworthy fellow. He might not be boisterous and outspoken but he is full of knowledge.
“ He is an encyclopedia of finance. He won’t take kick back nor steal your money. If he is looking for money, he should have stayed back in Lagos. You don’t have the kind of money that could entice him. It’s is not an insult. And I won’t look at the face of Kabiyesi(monach) before saying this.
“I am more concerned about doing good here, assisting you, giving your children jobs and also establish industries here. These are the opportunities that uplift the state. By sending illustrious sons back home to great things for the state.
“That is what we have brought Oyetola to do, to bring great things to this state. We trained Rauf(Aregbesola) in Lagos, he didn’t disappoint us and you. He didn’t not bring reproach on you. Oyetola that will ask you to accept his your son.
The incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola who has been struggling to pay workers’ salaries and pensioners served as a commissioner of Works under Tinubu in Lagos State before he was sent to contest governorship of Osun State.
